When LED light strips are used for interior decoration, they do not have to withstand wind and rain, so the installation is very simple. Take the LED light strips produced by Billiton as an example. The back of each LED light strip has a self-adhesive 3M double-sided tape. When installing, you can directly remove the sticker on the surface of the 3M double-sided tape, and then fix the light strip where it needs to be installed. It’s fine to smooth it out with your hands. As for some places that require corners or are long, what should I do? Very simple, the LED light strip is a circuit structure composed of 3 LEDs in series and parallel, and each 3 LEDs can be cut and used individually.


Outdoor installation will be exposed to wind and rain. If 3M glue is used to fix it, the 3M glue will decrease over time and cause the LED strip to fall off. Therefore, outdoor installation often adopts a card slot fixing method, which requires cutting and connection. The method is the same as indoor installation, but it needs to be equipped with waterproof glue to consolidate the waterproof effect of the connection point.


In addition, the general voltage of the LED light strip is DC 12V, so a switching power supply is required. The size of the power supply is determined according to the power and connection length of the LED light strip. If you don’t want each LED strip to be controlled by a power supply, you can buy a relatively large switching power supply as the total power supply, and then connect all the LED strip input power sources in parallel (if the wire size is not enough, you can extend it additionally), The unit is powered by the main switching power supply. The advantage of this is that it can be controlled centrally. The inconvenience is that the lighting effect and switch control of a single LED strip cannot be realized. Which method is used can be measured by its actual situation.

The following is an explanation of the connection method of the controller. LED marquee strips and RGB full-color light strips need to use controllers to achieve variable effects, and the control distance of each controller is different. Generally speaking, the control distance of a simple controller is 10 to 15 meters, and the control distance of a remote controller is 10 to 15 meters. The control distance is 15 to 20 meters, and the length can be controlled up to 30 meters. If the connection distance of the LED strip is long, and the controller cannot control that long strip, then a power amplifier is needed for tapping.


In the actual operation, the connection distance of the LED strip must be paid attention to. Generally speaking, 3528 series LED light strips have a connection distance of 20 meters, and 5050 series LED light strips have a long connection distance of 15 meters. If the connection distance is exceeded, the LED light strip will easily heat up, which will affect the service life of the LED light strip during use. Therefore, when installing, it must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements, and the LED lights must not be overloaded.


Precautions for purchasing LED strips


Nowadays, many LED light strips demanded by customers are not of conventional specifications and need to be customized. However, because they are not familiar with some technical parameters of LED light strips, there are many requirements that obviously do not meet the technical requirements, and their use will be affected even if they are made. Here are three special considerations for special customization of LED light strips for the reference of purchasing customers:


1. Circuit design of LED strips:


The circuit of the LED light strip includes series circuit and parallel circuit, as well as series-parallel circuit.


a. The advantage of the series circuit is that the current is constant and it is easier to control the driving current of the LED. The disadvantage is that if one of the LEDs is damaged, all the LEDs will not light up, but it will not affect the life of the other LEDs.


b. The advantage of the parallel circuit is that any LED failure will not affect the use of other LEDs. The disadvantage is that if no current-limiting resistor is added, any one of the LEDs will be damaged, which will cause the current at both ends of the other LEDs to increase, which will burn the other LEDs. And because the driving voltage of a single LED is very low, it will cause most of the voltage to do useless work, which is also a waste of resources.


c. The series-parallel circuit is a common circuit for LED strips at present, because several LEDs are connected in series to form a group, and then connected in parallel with other groups. It can greatly increase the utilization rate of the power supply voltage and reduce the loss of useless power. At the same time, using several LEDs in series can ensure that the driving currents of these LEDs are consistent, which is beneficial to constant LED currents to ensure the service life of the LEDs. The series-connected LED lamp group is then connected in parallel with other groups to ensure that if one group is damaged, it will not affect the normal use of other groups. At the same time, since each group has a current-limiting resistor, the service life of the other groups will not be affected by the damage of one group.


2. The number of LED lamp beads per meter:


Under normal circumstances, the number of LED lights per meter is fixed. For example, the 1210 has 60 lights, the 5050 has 30 lights, and the special one has 60 lights. If there are other special requirements, such as 50 lights per meter, this involves modifying the circuit. Because it is usually a group of 3 LEDs, if it is 50 lights, there will be a group of insufficient numbers, but if it is a group of two LEDs, the resistance of the current limiting resistor will be increased, which will cause a waste of resources . Therefore, when making customized LED light strips with special requirements, we must pay attention to the number of lamp beads is a multiple of 3, so as not to cause a waste of voltage resources.


3. Cutting position of LED light strip:


Generally speaking, one cutting position is made for each group. However, some customers will require a single LED to make a cutting position, which is also unreasonable. Because in that case, it is equivalent to a parallel circuit, and there is no guarantee for the service life of the LED strip.
